Great River Health Systems Recognizes Service Hero

August 24, 2010

Sherry Anderson, RN, Great River Home Health Care and Hospice, recently was named a Great River Health Systems EXCEL Service Hero.

The health system recognizes employees who demonstrate actions that extend beyond routine, expected employee behavior. Criteria for the service hero award are based on the health systems' philosophy of care. EXCEL stands for Enthusiastically friendly, X-ceeding expectations, Caring and compassion, Energetic teamwork, and Leadership and professionalism.

"A hospice patient wanted to give her husband something for his birthday but she couldn't buy him a gift," said Chris Oleson, director, Great River Home Health Care and Hospice. "Sherry had her daughter bake a special cake with a fishing theme for the patient to give to her husband. For another patient, Anderson arranged a trip to a Chicago Cubs game."

Great River Health Systems President and CEO Mark Richardson said, "These are examples of an employee who goes above and beyond her job description to make Great River Health Systems stand out as the leader in health-care services."

Anderson lives in Mediapolis, Iowa.
