Great River Health Systems Employees Raise Money to Help Others

January 28, 2010

In 2009, Great River Health Systems employees raised $10,200 for charitable organizations by doing something most people enjoy - dressing casually. About twice a month, they earn the privilege by making $2 donations to designated charities. In return, they receive a sticker that indicates they have made a donation and increases awareness for particular causes.

In the last three years, employees have donated more than $37,000 to an emergency fund for coworkers experiencing catastrophic events, local organizations such as United Way and Junior Achievement, and health-related organizations. They also raised money for relief efforts after the 2008 floods.

Great River Health Systems employees also donated $8,677 plus food items in its annual food drive during the 2009 holiday season. The money and food was given to local food pantries. The three-year total is $27,687 plus more than 3,000 food items.
