Great River Hospice Plans Volunteer Training in September
August 17, 2007 – Great River Hospice is offering a four-part volunteer training program for those interested in helping at the new hospice house, scheduled to open Wednesday, Oct. 3. Volunteers will help patients and families and work at the reception desk. .
The volunteer training also will prepare people to work with patients and families in their homes. Hospice volunteers may help the program in many other ways, such as providing food, running errands for families, doing clerical work and planning fund-raisers.
Participants must attend each session. Training is scheduled from 2 to 6 p.m. at Great River Medical Center, 1221 S. Gear Ave., West Burlington, on these dates:
• Tuesday, Sept. 4
• Thursday, Sept. 6
• Tuesday, Sept. 11
• Thursday, Sept. 13
Great River Hospice serves patients and families in Des Moines, Henry, Lee and Louisa counties. It is a service of Great River Medical Center.
