WHAT IS PRIMARY CARE?

A primary care provider (PCP) should be your first source for routine, nonemergency medical care. You also can see a PCP by appointment when you are sick. Primary care providers can be physicians, nurse practitioners or physician assistants.

Having a PCP is important because:

  • Your provider knows you and your health history.
  • Our Keokuk Clinic PCPs are part of Great River Health’s network of more than 60 specialty health care providers.
  • PCPs help patients establish healthy lifestyles that can prevent illnesses.
  • Having a PCP is cost-effective and efficient.

To become a patient of a primary care provider at Keokuk Clinic, call 319-524-6274.

Our Keokuk Clinic provides walk-in services for sudden illnesses or injuries that need to be evaluated right away but aren’t considered emergencies.

What you need to know:

  • Patients must be at least six months old. Women who are pregnant should seek help from their obstetrician or nurse midwife.
  • For multiple or complex health concerns, visiting a primary care provider or emergency department may be necessary.
  • Pain or long-term medications aren’t prescribed.
Walk-in services are available at the Keokuk Clinic between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, or 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
