Great River Medical Center Offers Prenatal Education Classes in June

Great River Medical Center offers free prenatal education classes for expectant mothers, fathers or birth coaches, and children. Classes are led by registered nurses who specialize in obstetrics and education. The June classes are:
Infant and Child CPR, 6:30 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, June 8. For parents, grandparents, older siblings and baby-sitters, this class offers instruction and practice for calm and effective emergency care when a baby or young child has breathing or choking problems.
Prenatal Refresher, 1:30 to 5 p.m. Saturday, June 5. For women and birth coaches who have completed the prenatal class during a previous pregnancy.
Sibling Preparation, 9:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday, June 5. Children ages 2 through 10 will learn how an additional child will change their families and how they can help with this adjustment. The class includes:
- A tour of the Obstetrics Unit, including the Nursery
- Dressing up in hospital gowns, masks and caps
- Role playing for children
- Story time about having a baby
