Ground-breaking Set for Great River Clinic in Wapello

April 30, 2010

A ground-breaking for a new medical and physical therapy clinic in Wapello, Iowa, is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. Friday, May 7, at the intersection of Locust Street and Highway 61. Refreshments will be served.

The new 4,500 square foot clinic will bring two existing Great River Health Systems clinics - Wapello Clinic and Great River Physical Therapy - together in one convenient location. Great River Health Systems opened the Wapello Clinic in 1981. Certified physician assistant Lori Lafayette has provided care at the clinic since 1993. Great River Physical Therapy opened in Wapello in July 2009. Physical therapist Bill Myers sees patients at the clinic Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

"Great River Health Systems is committed to continuing to provide high-quality medical services to area residents," said Lynette Collier, executive director, Great River Integrated Services. "Besides offering a modern facility for two existing services, the clinic provides space to potentially add other services in the future."

General contractor for the project is Carl A. Nelson and Company. The clinic is expected to be completed in fall 2010.
