Great River Medical Center Offers Summer Volunteer Program for Teens

Students who are at least 14 years old by June 1 are invited to join Great River Medical Center's Junior "Volunteen" program. The summer 2009 program is scheduled from Monday, June 15, through Friday, Aug. 7.

The program provides opportunities to explore health-care careers, gain work experience, fulfill volunteer requirements for school and service projects, and just have fun.  Positions for Junior Volunteens and parent/student teams are available at the hospital and Great River Klein Center. Students are scheduled to work a minimum of one four-hour shift per week. 

Teens must complete an application packet to be considered. Other requirements include:

  • Background check
  • Minimum 2.5 grade point average
  • Parents attend informational meeting on Wednesday, April 29, or Thursday, April 30
  • Participation in orientation Friday, June 5
  • Pledge of confidentiality
  • TB test and health assessment
