Great River Medical Center Offers Wound-healing and Diabetes Program and Screenings
April 17, 2007 – Great River Medical Center is offering a program about wound healing and diabetes from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, April 28, in the Blackhawk Room at the Great River Center for Rehabilitation, 1401 W. Agency Rd., West Burlington. Reduced-price blood-sugar and hemoglobin A1c testing will be available before the program, from 8 to 9 a.m.
The program topics and speakers are:
• 9 to 10 a.m., Chronic Disease Conditions and Wound Development – Mark Buettner, D.O., Medical Director, Great River Wound and Hyperbaric Clinic
• 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., Making Your Doctor Visit Count – Marcia Carlson, R.N., M.A., CDE, Diabetes Educator, Great River Diabetes Education Program
Fasting blood-sugar test will be offered for $5. Hemoglobin A1c (also known as glycosylated hemoglobin) for diabetic monitoring will be offered to diabetics for $20. Those interested in having a fasting blood-sugar test should not eat or drink (except water) anything after midnight the night before the test. Fasting is not required for the Hemoglobin A1c.
